Selko Fytera Balance for dairy cows contains a mixture of different plant extracts for cattle with an effect on systemic inflammation and rumen fermentation of dairy cows.

Selko Fytera Balance improves gut barrier function and has effects on some of the receptors triggering systemic inflammation in dairy cows that often occurs during the period before and immediately after calving120,121. This inflammatory response of dairy cattle requires energy. Thus, this reduction of systemic inflammation of dairy cows means the animal will now have more energy available for dairy cow milk production.

Selko Fytera Balance also modifies rumen fermentation of dairy cows in such a way that energy losses from methane emission are reduced. This reduces the carbon footprint of dairy farming, through a direct reduction of greenhouse gas produced in the rumen. It also means that more energy becomes available to the animal for milk production without an increase of feed intake of dairy cows. This results in a further increase in milk production of dairy cows, without an increase of emission of methane. Thus, the amount of CO2 equivalents per kg of milk produced will be lower, reducing the carbon footprint of the dairy farm further.

Selko Fytera balance increases milk production by up to 1 kg per day, while reducing enteric greenhouse gas production by 5-6%.

In a study122,123 carried out by the Pennsylvania State University, a group of 20 Holstein dairy cows was fed Selko Fytera Balance for 28-days and compared with controls fed the same diet without Selko Fytera Balance. Feeding Selko Fytera Balance resulted in a decrease of haptoglobin, indicative of a reduction of systemic inflammation (see figure 1.)

In the same trial in dairy cows122,123, feeding Selko Fytera Balance to dairy cattle resulted in a decrease of blood β hydroxybutyrate levels (see figure 2), which suggests that energy metabolism of dairy cows fed Selko Fytera Balance improved.

Selko Fytera Balance contains Capsicum oleoresin. Mutliple studies124,125,126,127 have proven that Capsicum oleoresin can increase milk production.

A study128 carried out by the Pennsylvania State University in 32 dairy cows confirmed these results. Half of the animals was treated with Selko Fytera Balance, the other half served as untreated controls. Feeding Selko Fytera Balance resulted in an increase of milk production of 1.3 Kg of milk per day (see Figure 3).

The results of the aforementioned study was included in a metanalysis of a total of 4 indpendent studies122,123,128. The reuslts of this analysis show that feeding Selko Fytrea Balance to lactating dairy cows can increase milk production by up to 1 kg.

Two trials122,123,128 carried out by the Pennsylvania State University. One of these studies showed that emissions of enteric methane were reduced by 8-10% (see Figure 4), the other study showed reductions of 5-6%..

Feeding Selko Fytera Balance improves rumen fermentation, reduces systemic inflammation and improves energy metabolism of dairy cattle, which results in an increase of milk production by up to 1 kg per day124,125,126,127. Feeding Selko Fytera Dairy to dairy cows also results in a reduction of enteric methane production of around 6%122,123,128.
